Mission and Vision
Goals

We would like to welcome you to the Saudi Initiative for Asthma (SINA) Group. SINA was created by a group of physicians from Saudi Arabia who are expert in the field of Asthma and working under the umbrella of the Saudi Thoracic Society (STS). SINA is a non-profit group and its main office is within the STS office in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Through a comprehensive approach for asthma, there is an expected increase in the awareness and knowledge in many aspects of the disease including research, education for patients, healthcare workers and public, and creation of links between different parties interested in asthma.

Mission

To provide a comprehensive approach for asthma in Saudi Arabia. Such approach should increase the awareness and knowledge in many aspects of the disease including research, education for patients, healthcare workers and public, and creation of links between different parties interested in asthma.

Vision

Our vision is to ensure that every child and adult in Saudi Arabia with asthma has an active and symptom-free life.

Functions of the SINA

The SINA group will ensure that its goals are achieved by creating different task forces. The task forces will have the following roles:

  • The SINA group executive committee will choose one member as a leader for each taskforce.
  • The leader of the task force will choose the members of the taskforce responsible for the implementation of its functions outside of the Executive Committee.
  • There is neither a specific number of the taskforces, nor a limited number of members within the task force. Furthermore, the duration of each task force’s term depends on the type of activity entrusted to it.
  • Each leader should provide annual report to the Executive Committee of SINA group.

The goals of the SINA group will be achieved primarily through the establishment of taskforces responsible for delivering the following goals:

  • To develop national guidelines and protocols for the diagnosis and treatment of asthma.
  • To conduct research that study characteristics and prevalence of asthma in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • To conduct scientific education and training for healthcare workers in the field of asthma.
  • To focus on the development of treatment of asthma by promoting basic and clinical research.
  • To provide advisory services and support of health agencies that deals with asthma.
  • To establish funds to finance scientific research purposes and serve patients.
  • To establish national database of patients with asthma.
